국립현대미술관 서울은 조선시대 종친부가 자리했던 곳에 한국 근현대사의 주요 무대였던 국군 기무사령부 건물을 리모델링하여 두 역사적 공간을 아우르는 문화예술공간으로 2013년 11월 문을 열었다.

연중 다양한 영화를 볼 수 있는 MMCA 영상관, 미술 전문서적과 시각자료들을 열람할 수 있는 미술도서관, 공연과 국제심포지엄이 펼쳐지는 MMCA 다원공간 등 다양한 시설을 갖춘 복합예술문화센터인 국립현대미술관 서울은 동시대 현대미술의 흐름을 한눈에 볼 수 있는 다채로운 전시와 교육, 영화, 공연을 선보인다.

The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul (MMCA), is a cultural and artistic space that reflects two layers of history: it was reconstructed from the former Defense Security Command building, which initially stood on the site of the Royal Ancestral Clan Office during the Joseon Dynasty.

As a versatile arts and culture complex, it features facilities such as the MMCA Film Hall, where visitors can enjoy a variety of films throughout the year; an art library with access to specialized art books and visual resources; and the MMCA Multi-Project Hall, which hosts performances and international symposiums. MMCA Seoul presents a diverse range of exhibitions, educational programs, films, and performances, offering a comprehensive perspective on contemporary art.
