LG아트센터 서울은 단순한 공연장을 넘어, 공간 자체가 서울시의 랜드마크 역할을 하는 복합문화공간이다. 20여 년간 축적된 운영 경험을 바탕으로 2022년 10월 새롭게 태어난 이 공간은, 세계적인 공연예술 작품을 품는 무대를 넘어 건축과 도시, 인간과 자연을 교류하게 한다.

설계를 맡은 건축가 안도 다다오는 “21세기 공연장은 무엇을 담아야 하는가”라는 근본적 질문으로부터 출발했다. 단순한 공연장의 틀을 넘어, 사람들이 드나들며 머무르고 교류하는 ‘살아 있는 건축’을 제안했다.

LG Arts Center Seoul is more than just a performance venue—it is a multicultural space that also acts as a city landmark. Reopened in October 2022 after more than 20 years of operation, the space not only hosts world-class performing arts but also promotes interaction between architecture and the city, as well as between people and nature.

Architect Ando Tadao, who designed the building, started with the fundamental question: “What should a 21st-century performance hall contain?” His answer was a space that goes beyond the typical theater—a “living architecture” where people can enter, stay, and interact.
